How to set yourself up for a successful count:

Step 1: Reach out to your community lead
Step 2: Plan your strategy – How will your agency or volunteers maximize their count efforts during Point in Time?
Step 3: Register for and attend a PIT training
Step 4: Ensure everyone conducting counts completes the mandatory PIT confidentiality waiver
Step 5: If needed, reserve an iPad from NeighborImpact by emailing HMIS@cohomeless.org before January 23rd
Step 6: COUNT!

The Point In Time (PIT) Count enables us to gather important data, which informs our efforts to end homelessness in Central Oregon. Over the course of one week at the end of January, provider staff and volunteers traverse Central Oregon to count how many individuals slept in a place not fit for human habitation on the night of January 26, 2026. The information is used to help identify how many individuals are sheltered and unsheltered in the region. The Count captures information about their demographic characteristics, and the locations where they currently reside.
